Question 7.
Preliminary Task-
From this task to my final media project I have learnt so much,
I have discovered how to actually use camera angles to represent certain things in my film- before I did the preliminary task I had no clue how to use editing software and and I didn't know how to really use a camcorder.
When I was using the camcorder in my preliminary task I only really knew how to just press the button to make it record- I now know how to make all of the different settings work on it and how to use it at the best angles to get the best looking shots that there can be for me to achieve the highest grade. Also, I have learnt that using a tri-pod is essential so that the camera shots do not wobble and they look slick, they also need to be steady so the shots all link together smoothly.
In my preliminary task I used very simple shots such as match on action and close ups on the door handles, I realize now that they're not the only shots you can use to create a good media film. In our final media product we used a huge range of shots.
Editing-
When editing our final task I discovered that short and snappy cuts are the best for horrors- this is because it makes the suspense a lot higher and it also leaves the audience wanting more. When we first did our preliminary task we did quite slow cuts but with our actual media production we did fast cuts.
Now I know how to use the 180 degree rule effectively, which we did in our preliminary task but now I feel as if this rule comes naturally when I am given a camera- I explained what the rule was back on my first blog post.
Time management and organisation-
In the beginning our group was awful at deciding when to film and how long we would need to spend filming, we made the mistake of leaving our filming to 2 weeks before we needed to hand it in. I think that we have learnt that we need to film very early in advance and we need too film things many times just in case some of the shots are not good enough and will lack continuity.
Overall, I am proud of how far I have progressed within the process of making my final media piece, I am looking forward to progressing even further in my future projects that I get given.
This is our final media project-
